mysql_close()

Hi all,

A quick question about DB access. If you open a link to a mysql DB using : mysql_connect($host,$user,$pass)

and do not issue a mysql_close() command what are the repercussions if any?

If you do not close() the connection, it stays until script finishes.
It's a little resource consuming, but in case you do not write loads-of-kb-long scripts and do not open zillions of connections in a script, don't bother about it. Most people, I believe, never use it and feel OK.

If you are worried about any repercussions, then use mysql_connect and not mysql_pconnect which will stay open under the identifier name, and doesn't get closed even with mysql_close()
