Just wondering if anyone know what the best field type for searching is.
I'm using a MySQL table, and the contents will be a mixture of text and numbers. There will be two fields each of between 3 and 4 characters
Also do I need to index etc to speed it up??
If it is 3 or 4 alphanum characters, then the only idea is to put them into char(4) fields 🙂
And yes, that't great idea to create an index. It speeds up a lot.
