Coloring text...

Can anybody explain me how to substitute a text whithin another text???

For example... how does this forum substitute the PHP code from a text for the colored one form a text??? it use [ P H P ] to begin the text and [ / P H P ] to close it... I understand the process of [ B ], but with PHP is different... some help???? 😕

Ok, thanks... but... What about other languages???? I would like to do it with C, or Pascal or Visual Basic... this function is only for PHP isn't it??? i'm making a web page with C and Java tutorials... it would be interesting some function that make the same effect with different languages... or serveral funtions 🙂
