Installing php for use by command line

Does anyone know the option to add onto the configuration line for php so that php is compiled to use by command line, for shell scripting?

OS: FreeBSD
PHP: 4.2.2
Apache: 1.3.26

I am using the ports collection to install php and apache, so i will need to edit the makefile.

Why don't you use wget to use php by command line?

wget http://localhost:80/dir/executesome.php?var=abc
