that's utter bullshit. MS strategy is very simple :
start a project on something with the market leaders, before reaching completion hire everybody in other team, develop a better solution and reach market with the full might.
But MS is a good company, caring for its employees and they have taken us as far as we now are. Do you really think that the IT world would be THAT advanced without microsoft? Do you think the web would have that many people connected to it if it wasn't for microsoft?
Look, I don't try to defend anybody or change anyone's opinions BUT I know that I use MS products all day and that I don't have to recite incantations for my wife to be able to read her emails or go do stuff on the web (I would if I was on Linux).
When MS was the challenger to IBM everybody thought they were cool and hoped they'd do great. Well good news, they did.

This is just something I heard, didn't mean to offend you lol. I would imagine that the computer industry would be quite un-advanced if there was no microsoft, there would be no windows and we'd probably all be stuck on Mac OSX lol (which I don't think would be too bad but then again I'm going on what I've heard about it, seems to be getting more popular).
I don't have anything against microsoft, they are damn good at what they do, but they have been fairly limited until now, for instance with their xbox, they are now jumping into video games with their own console instead of just games for PC's and the like.

you'd need server address + port number but yes... I still fail to see the point of having a new language when we already have so many... try to learn SGML or XHTML or XSLT before making your own. I never said it was a perfect world but I never found anything I couldn't dvelop with the tools I have.

I was gonna do it for my websites, so I don't have to repeat big chunks of codes, basically to store snippets etc, just looks more professional having the tags and a damn sight easier for if clients need to update their site without needing to learn html css and php, as thats mainly what I'm using nowadays. Things that need repeating all over the site would be easier for them if they just had to input 1 code, and be able to define basic properties for each.
I guess everyone thats into php programs their own tools to make things easier on themselves, just thought something like this might be useful to beginners, like a preface to html and css.
yes it would be a good learning experience but it wouldn't be a PHP learning experience it would be a parsing/language structure analysis project.
If you want to learn about developing in PHP try to make something that will be usefull and that will explore unknown areas of the language and its environment such as MySQL, relational querying, file parsing and so on 
You will learn a lot more and THEN eventually if you still think you need it to learn more will you create your language
Oh I've got plenty of php stuff to do for my own website <G> This is just a little something to speed up the html and css stuff in the future whilst I'm learning it lol.
maybe you could use some standard php content management approach for now
I am developing a demo website for small businesses to help me sell my services. The way I develop it is that peeps can add some text (in a blob so they got room alright) and link one picture to it. Will have an admin interface with text entry form and picture upload.
Maybe that would be the way to go for you now as a learning project
I don't wanna get too distracted from my website at the moment, although a content management system is ok, other people that dont have my knowledge if they want to join the team they can use my system to help do the html and css stuff =]
After I have finished it I'll turn my head towards some more personalised tool creation but I have a long way to go with my website, some help wouldn't go unappreciated hint lol.
I would love to "help" but I bill around 30 US$ an hour to code and you sound like you don't want that kind of "help".
