Storing result sets ...

Say you do a search in a database and get 500 hits... You want to display 25 at a time. What is the best way to "store" the data from the search so that you won't need to do the same search again when you hit the next button to retrieve the rest of the data? Is this possible? Is it better to do a new search?

I'd just select a page full at a time. Or if the amount of data isn't real big you could send it all to the browser the first time and page through it with javascript, depends on whether you prefer initial download time or repeated POSTs.

Use "LIMIT" and "OFFSET" within your query.

select * from sometable offset = 0 and limit = 20

That will pull your first 20 results

Then on the next page pass it the new offset and query it again.
