Creating an ODBC driver connection to MySQL

I am not sure if this question is in its place here...
I have server with Win2000 on it, and want to create an ODBC driver connection to my MySQL database. Now I am not sure how to do it, because when I go to the Administration tools and the ODBC-part of it, I see all kinds of drivers, but not a MySQL-driver...

If I remember from when I set mine up, you need to click 'Add', then there should be a list of available drivers presented and mysql should be near the bottom of the list, underneath all the MS ones.
Select the MySql driver and then you will just need to input all your info, i.e host, database, username, pass etc.

This should work for you.

If you want to do it with ASP then checkout http://www.devarticles.com/art/1/50. If you're using PHP then just use MySQL's built-in mysql_xxx functions.

I guess (hope) that last solution will help, because I cannot find MySQL drivers when I click the Add button...

When you install MySQL on a windows machine it should automatically add the MySQL odbc driver for you (It does on my winNT systems anyway). Save yourself some time however and make sure that the odbc driver is added to the "SYSTEM" dsn, not user. I have had lots of problems getting PHP to recognize user specific ODBC drievrs.

Hm, it seems like that didn't happen on this machine (Win2000), because I cannot to find the driver... Something must have gone wrong there, I suppose. Thanks for your comment!

If I remember right you can download the driver for this from mysql.com. Install it and it should appear.

Yaaaay, that's it (of course ;-))!! I downloaded the right drivers from mysql.com and it appears in my ODBC drivers window now, so that's great. Thanks.
