chop a string

Hi!
I have a string. I want to chop the remaining string after a particular word. How do we do that?
E.g.
suppose the string is:
"September 30, 2002
10AM EDT
9AM CDT
1400 GMT
Jennifer Teig von Hoffman, [e-mail]
Venue: Lucky Labrador Room
SC Global committee meeting

October 2002 many words continued ............."

I want to chop everything after October.
Can anybody tell me how to do that?
