phpMyAdmin vs. winsql

I probably don't understand the difference, but I have seen several posts where phpMyAdmin was recommended. Several people use winsql out here to test their mySQL statements before uploading a script. Does winsql just do a part of what phpMYAdmin does.

Someone please explain the advantages of phpMyAdmin.

BTW, my test server is latest Apache on Windows XP with latest PHP and mySQL. My live server is UNIX.

PHPMyAdmin is a web-interface, which means it runs everything through a browser and through PHP.

A windows executable is always faster, and often more reliable and flexible than a web-based app.

For local development I always recommend a win-app. For remote-administration you may be forced to use a web-interface installed on the remote-host.
