Reset form on submit

Hi together,

i am looking for a way to prevent users who had filling out a form i`ve coded with php3, to submit more then one time, because it writes the data on submit to a file and i have to clean it after.

Anything is welcome

two thoughts come to mind - one is to use a hidden field on the form and set it after the first submit so you know they submitted the form already, second is to use session control and store a variable on the session after the first submit so you know it's been submitted previously,
