XMLHTTP with APACHE????

I am using the XMLHTTP API to update pages without refreshing the browser, does this library works on Apache servers?

Yes I've tried some code to work on an Apache Server, but the only trouble I have is that my native language is Portuguese and it has accented chars so when I tried to obtain data like "Máquinas" it resolver "M?quinas" instead... Still haven't figure it out how can my php file can code the xml right 😐
