PHP's still not working

I have everything installed. Apache is working (I see the Splash Page at http://localhost/ and I can start mySQL and for all apperances seems to be working.

However, when I try to view a text page at http://localhost/testpage.php. All I see is the html part, no php. I've missed something somewhere. Any ideas??? Please advise. This is really getting frustrating! 😕

I downloaded and installed all the latest versions of Apache, PHP, and mySQL for Windows XP. BTW, I don't have Dreamweaver, but if I ever did stoop to using a WYSIWYG, Dreamweaver would be it 🙂!

Here are my ideas:

Did you set up Apache's httpd.conf to use PHP?
Check Apache's error.log file for any errors.
Look at the DOS box when Apache starts to see if it says "PHP/4.2.2 running..."

I think I've screwed up my conf:httpd file. At least before, I was getting the HTML part. Now, I get an open/save box???

I guess I need to uninstall/reinstall to get back to the origional, make a copy, then go from there. However, there is a conf:httpd.default file in the conf folder. Could I grab that one and get back to where I was.

yes I set up the httpd:conf, but think I either missed something or did it wrong
I checked it, but it didn't make any sense???
Couldn't figure out how to see this. I tried several ways, but couldn't start Apache from the c prompt command line and it didn't show up there when I started from the console.

I don't know what I did, but I reset those files and voila, it worked. Don't ask my why, cause I don't know.
