PHPtriad and MySQL

Alright, somebody. I've got PHPtriadv2.11 on Win Xp. Running PHP fine on the apache server and then I open phpmyadmin to use MySQl and this message comes up

Warning: MySQL Connection Failed: Can't connect to MySQL server on 'localhost' (10061) in C:\apache\htdocs\phpmyadmin\lib.inc.php on line 255

I do have the server running and I have started MySQl(although it just flashes on the screen and disappears.). I checked the file in Question and It wont open.
Anyone had this problem or has anyone got any ideas. HAs this version got a bug or something or am I doing something wrong. PLEASE REPLY SOMEONE

open a DOS-prompt and change directory to ../mysql/bin

(should be c:/mysql/bin but i do not know triad so well)

and type mysql

if you see an error then you know what to do but when your dos prompt changes to

mysql>

then mysql is ok
