help w/ my php guestbook

Hey...i'm making my guestbook....and what it does is rights the message to guestbook.php and what i want to do is somehow say..if guestbook.php contains 5 messages then when a 6th one is added it'll delete the oldest one and add the new one..could i do that in just plain php ..?? or would i have to use mysql 🙁 ??

it's possible in plain PHP (provided that you are allowed to use fopen to write files, which is not possible on every server).

I suggest you take a look at the associated pages in the php-manuel (e.g. http://www.php.net/fopen ), then repost more detailed questions.

it could be adapted for a simple guestbook script.
