Hosting question

I have found a good mysql host (www.freesql.org). Now what I need is a free PHP host (preferably without ads) THAT ALLOWS REMOTE DB CONNECTIONS.

Anyone here know of such a host?

lol, fat chance, most companies stopped free php hosting a while ago, because most of them were not making money from it, its you can find a free php host, without ads, all the best, but i dont like your chances

hi,

ive been searching for a free php host that will let me run the ftp_connect command() (see my posting).

in the process of this search ive found a few free hosts that let u run php scripts. (just not with the ftp_connect() command in it).

i cant remember EXACTLY which ones they were, but i searched using the following critera [x] PHP [x] UNIX. (i.e. i selected the php and unix check boxes).

if i was u, i would

(a) read my posting - theirs a couple of BAD hosts on that list
(b) use a temp email address, incase u decide not to use them.

DigitalRice is something like US$8 per year.

If your site's worth having it's surely worth a measly $8 - I just think about what else $8 can buy in a year and compare value.

Would I be happy with $8 of beer a year, uh, no!

just so u know,

i pay $100 / mth for a 1GB storage - 40GB transfer hosting a/c. (unlimited: domains, pop, ftp a/cs, webusers, telnet, etc, etc)

yet, they dont offer the same level of php functionality as the following free a/c:

by php functionality, i mean allowing u to execute the ftp_connect command!

try modwest.com, got in the top 25 on hostindex.com, and they have a killer control app and also the best support ive ever seen from a company! send them a email and within 10 min you get a human reply, any time of the day.

I emailed them at 3am once, and got a shock when i recived a email from them within minutes!
