I am not sure what is the best table column for text that contains paragraphs.

Can I put code into the text in the table to create the breaks?

what a shame we need products like that!

Anyway, mysql doesn't know about html so feel free to add <br><p><b> etc.

I store my faq in a table (see http://www.pcpropertymanager.com/faq/) and it's stored as plain text and then parsed out into a standard format and looks good again.

If you give others the right to add the text you can control which html tags they add with htmlspecialchars - this removes all except those you specify as ok

How silly of me, I had put in a couple of <br> codes not realizing it was actually working.

I just wanted to have paragraph breaks in my description copy, not even thinking about the special characters yet.

I had originaly chosen mediumblob for my descriptions and thus made it uneditable in the phpMyAdmin. So I when I changed the table attribute to "text" my descriptions are all editable now.
