M$ SQL Select Query

Is it possible to use the select statement to pull two rows of data that have one field that is identical between them ? (bearing in mind that I cannot put a fulltext index on any fields)

(Seems like a simple question and a simple answer, but I can't get it... 🙁 )

Your question is pretty vague. Here's my guess at what you are looking for:

select a., b.
from sometable a, sometable b
where a.somecolumn = b.somecolumn

Or maybe you mean this:

select a.mycol as mycolA, b.mycol as mycolB
from tableA, tableB
where ...

OK, now what I want is a query that will just produce Bob's merchants, and ignore the others.
IE A query that will pull out any duplicate names irrespective of whether or not the other information held in the rows corresponding to the names is the same.

Does that make it any clearer ?

group by name having count(*) > 1
