infamous sessions bug

i did a search for the infamous

"Warning: Failed to write session data (files). Please verify that the current setting of session.save_path is correct (/tmp) in Unknown on line 0"

bug. sadly, all the help was for windows systems and i'm on a *nix host. i tried checking whether /tmp was world-writeable and if it was full, both are ok. users who opt to use sessions instead of cookies are not having their session variables saved.

does anyone have any solutions to this problem? thank you very much.

PHP does not store variables on the client whether they accept cookies or not. All the variables are kept on the server. Only the unique ID is stored in a cookie (or in the URL) with sessions turned on, so a problem affecting session variables would affect ALL users.

Afraid I don't have any solution to your problem, sorry, but at least I bumped you back up to the top 😃 It would seem the solution offered for Windoze clients would most likely also apply to nix, except they would need to be translated into nix format before being applied, but I am just s'posing.
