How to use URL variables ??

Hello all !!
I've moved my web app to this dam windows... Running PHP 4.2.2, Apache 1.3 and W-XP Pro.
Here is what i have: When passing variables through URL, Ex.: http://mysite.com/main.php?u=001&p=01.
How can I use this variables on the destination page? Simply using them as $u and $p doesn't work. Why? Is this a $_POST kind of vars?

These are $_GET vars...so if you say:

$u = $GET["u'];
$p = $GET["p"];

You will be able to use them. The reason you can't use just $u and $p with nothing else is because REGISTER_GLOBALS is turned off. (This is a good thing.)

I'm using $REQUEST, with $GET it doesn't work.

How are you using them?

$u = $GET["u"];
$p = $GET["p"[;

Yes, I was first using this way:

$GET["u"]; and $GET["p"];

but it doesn't work, then using $REQUEST["u"] and ["p"] worked fine. The are other stange things happening when using php with W-XP pro. Like session created variabes doesn't work. Only $HTTP_SESSION_VARS.

I run my site off XP, and I haven't had a single problem like that... Maybe you're php is configured differently.

you probably installed a new version of php when you switched which has register globals turned off by default. They changed it because it was a security problem.

The register globals fiasco has been going on for a long time now. Someone should make a sticky.
