how to open a directory

hi,

i have worked out (thanks to people in this forum) how to list the files on a server, and how to tell if its a file or a folder....

but what I want to do now is to open the folder.....

I found this link in the PHP manual http://www.php.net/manual/en/function.readdir.php but I dont understand it!!

I hae a list of all the file and folders on my server,.... but I want to b able to click the folder, and the contents displayed in the same window. currently, it simply opens the index file.

any ideas?

Did you try this code, it seems preety clear to me. You set $ handle to the directory path eg: $handle = "$DocumentRoot/directoryname";

try doing this and then pastiing in example 2 from the link.

Failing that, do you really need the index file. If your server can't find the index or default file that it is looking for it will revert to showing the files.
