Granting rights?

Okay so I can finally upload files.

However, I'm getting a permission denied error:
Warning: Unable to create '/var/www/html/home/images/uploaded/d/dp-002.jpg': Permission denied in /var/www/html/home/admin/editarticle.php on line 71

So my question is: to what user do I grant the rights to write to the directory?

Is it the user I'm logged in as under session control? Or is it the master account user?

Or do I just chmod 777 the directory?

I'm assuming that you are uploading files through a PHP script, in this case you need to make sure that the owner of the Web Server process has access to this directory (this owner is usually "nobody"). You will probalby have to chmod 777 the directory to get everything to work.

Not to be picky, but you could get away with chmod 770 and have a tad more security 😃

Sure 770 will be more secure, but will only work if the nobody user is in the same group as the creator of the directory. And if nobody isn't and Russ doesn't have root access then 770 will just cause more frustration.
