PROS! Calling via year....

Hey guys...

Ok. I have a database full of junk. I have a date field listing enteries like so:

2002-09-20

Basically, I want to have seperate WEEK pages, MONTH pages, and YEAR pages.

For instance, if you select the fourth week of this MONTH, the new page will generate all DB entries with a date residing in the 4th week of this month.

Same with the MONTH and YEAR calls. I'd like to print out whatever was called (for instance if month 10 was called, then it prints OCTOBER, then lists, WEEK 1 then all the enteries, WEEK 2 then all the entries, etc etc.

Make sense? How easy is this? Can someone give me an example?

How you would do this depends on the DBMS you are using. Most DBMS's have a rich set of date functions that you can utilize in your SQL statements to get the desired affect. For example, mySQL has all these functions that you can make use of.

There is no "week of the month" function, but you could use the "day of the month" value to sort your entries and then break them down into weeks by dividing by 7 or checking the "day of the week" value and breaking each time it cycles back around to 0.
