reading/writing to/from textfile : (

a big newbie hello : ) i'll get right to the point...please help! : (

What I want to Do:
There are 2 ppl, micki mouse and minnie mouse. They got a bio page each. From time to time i want to write "news" about them. Here is how i will (hopefully) do it. note: i cant use a db, it has to be with txt file...unfortunately.

1. I open a page containing a form with textarea. I will fill this thing out with e.g. Today micki mouse went shopping. submit

2. The form goes whirr and using my predefined array or vars, it CHANGES micki mouse into <a href="mickimousebio.php">micki mouse</a>. It writes this sentence with linked name into the txt file.

3. Then the news page opens up, with "Today <a href="mickimousebio.php">micki mouse</a> went shopping.

If i wrote only micki or only mouse, no linking happens. only if i write the full string micki mouse, it should be link-ified.

Also when i open the form-page to input new news, the textarea should be prefilled with the content of the txtfile, so i can read what is already there so far...

So. Thats waht i want to do. i started off with fopen and stuff, but i know i'm missing the point somewhere : (

Please if you can help me with even one part of this long list of demands i will be grateful. Even a super tute on reading/writing to textfiles, will be a start. I haven't found a useful one yet.

funny i just realized while previewing this msg that its exactly what i want...prefilled txtarea, which i edit and finally write somewhere...but phpbuilder probably uses a db : (

Maibe this will help you (i use it on my site, people can write a joke to a txt file, and when they open the page again will see their joke until other visitor submit his joke... ) but I'm a newbie to, ..... I'm sure U gonna find a better script.

This is for reading from txt file (I used .dat files):

...and this is the php file that you will submit to, u're form will point to this file (... action="submit.php"....)

In my case the new data that I want to insert in txt file is named $bancnou... hope u will understand what I done here.
