php and mysql PHP_SELF error

hi all

just doing the webmonkey tutorial on php and mysql. im up the section called linking intelligently located at

hotwired.lycos.com/webmo...l?tw=programming

when i do this, i get the errors as follows

anyone know why i am getting these errors. all the exercises up until this point have worked perfect.

Apparently the $PHP_SELF variable is not available. If you put the function phpinfo(); at the top of your script you get detailed info on all the variables that are available to your script.

Also, it looks like the register_globals = off. This has been changed recently, I think as of PHP 4.2.0. This means that the variables coming from a post- or get-form are not automatically registered as global variables. They are accessible through the arrays $POST[] and $GET[].

i looked at the list of variables and the php_self is in the list.

but i looked at the register_globals in the php.ini file, and it is set to off. should this be on??

well it worked. but i still get one error. this was the output.

the bottom three names were links and the links worked fine. you legend. do u have any idea why i am still getting th first error?
