php wont run

Some how when i try to run any file with .php extension through my web browser it just displays the code in wordpad. Ive tried clicking on properties of any .php file and clicking on open with internet explorer but it still displays the code.

Anyone know how i can just make it work???????????

if you create a file called test.php and place it in the web root and open it via the browser by typing "http://localhost/test.php" (not by choosing FILE>OPEN and then browsing to the file

what do you get?

also what os/webserver are you running?

thankyou. I have been away from php for so long i forgot to run apache and run my php files through localhost.oops 🙂
