sessions, bless em

Hello people, a real newbie question. I am new to php, and have got as far as trying to work with sessions. However, I keep getting told

Warning: open(/tmp\sess_0db1d73e3a2638267fb0e26d8eea632b, O_RDWR) failed: m (2) in C:\Program Files\php\basket.php on line 3

I have adjusted my php.ini file so that it doesn't read /tmp (as I am using a Win98 box), but phpinfo() still reports the same path. I know it is probably a stupid question, but I would really appreciate a sane answer. I have kicked every cat that I can find, and pulled out most of my hair already.

Yeah, I was getting the same problem when I installed php on my nt4 box here at work. Something was wrong with the package I installed I think, since phpinfo() reported that the configuration file was c:\winnt and made no mention of a php.ini file (I think phpinfo() is supposed to give a full path to the file including php.ini).

Anyway, the (crappy) workaround I'm using involves setting the session.save_path directly with ini_set at the top of each of my scripts:

ini_set('session.save_path','C:\\\\temp')

before I call session_start().

Thanks, that appears to have done the trick. Now I can move on to the next step. I used an install package to set php up - having battled on through the install instructions. Maybe this is the problem. But the "crappy" workaround suits my purposes for the moment - so thanks again
