how would i strip html from an email, and just keep the text?

There is actually a php function called strip_tags();

Also you could use ereg_replace:

You wouldn't consider

"/<[^>]*>/s"

sufficient?

Note that there's also code listed in the manual under htmlentities() for reversing that function's operation.
