COM and linux?

is there anyway to use COM libraries with PHP on a linux box? I hate the fact that cannot control MS Office programs simply because I don't run a windows server. Has anyone ever found something to mimic this?

Short answer: no

I have heard wispers of PERL libraries, and I am pretty shure that Java servelts could do this, but COM is supported under windows only for PHP at this time.
