Simple newbie question

Okay, I'm just getting started learning about PHP and MySql, and I'm wondering what the code is if you want to get the content of a single cell in a table into some part of a web page. Through a tutorial I went through, I found out how to call up the content of a whole column, but I just need a reference to a single cell. I'm sure this is the simplest of all questions, but if someone could help me out I'd be grateful. Thanks,

$onecell = mysql_result(mysql_query("SELECT onefield FROM sometable WHERE someuniquefild='value'"), 0)

Thanks, Wave, that was what I was looking for, it worked like a charm. Right now I'm just peicing things together from bits and peices of online tutorials, but I'm interested in a more structured study that takes you in as a newbie and spits you out fairly proficent at PHP and MySQL. Do you have any ideas? How did you go about the process of learning this stuff?

some books, php.net, phpbuilder.com and .chm manual is the best teachers 🙂 and the big thing is an expirience. my first works i made only for exp, even not for resume (first works was a terrible works 🙂)
so you learn more and more, work hard, and one day the feeling comes - you're the real professional. you know enough, to help another people and even write a book.

and there is th Main Thing - you haven't to stop learning. beeng a profi is like a swimming against the stream - as soon as you relax, you start moving backward.

so... it's only up to you to decide, how professional you can be.
