How to send referer page, when downloading file from server

Can I send referer (http://www.domain.com/somepage.html) with fopen or only with fsockopen?

I need to download file from server, but some servers has anti-hotlink protection, so the file can be accessed only from the page located on this server. When I will send by the download request the referer information with page located on this server, can download this file remotely from another server.

i think what he wants to do is "spoof" the server to make it look like his users are coming from that servers web pages and not his own pirate page.

No mans, no...I want to download some files from server only, not make pirate site, but itguysam say exactly what I want. So, somebody knows how to send referer?

Ok - I think what you want to do (after reading your [sarcasm]so helpful[/sarcasm] description) is to spoof yourself to a server.

As far as I can tell - the referer would not be the header you want to set. This just tells the server the last page you came from. Instead you may want to set the "Host" header when sending the request.

ie.

Get / HTTP/1.0
Host: blahblah.com

I don't know if this will work, and I don't have time to try it - so go ahead and let me know what happens. IMHO - I don't know why you would want to do this and the only reason I can think of is to in fact hack apart someone elses content without their prior permission (otherwise why would you have to even attempt this).
