Refresh Problem

1) i have ftp, on this ftp i have for example 10 files

2) my php script on page loading connects to this ftp and takes to table all files names stored on connected ftp

but now if client adds one more files to his ftp my page must be refreshed how to catch this event when client do edit, delete or add on his ftp

please help , for me it is realy big problem

Errr - so let me get this right.

Someone uploads files to an ftp server.

Someone else may visit your page, when they visit your page it connects to this ftp server and gets a file listing, then displays the results in a nice table format.

So - when a new file is uploaded what's the problem? The page doesnt read the ftp contents until it is looked at by a user, so any changes will automagically be displayed.

Hmmm - how long have you been doing web development? Not long enough i'm guessing.

i have for instance far manager, and i have uploaded my page
in this page i see two files for example,

ok, now anybody goes to far manager and deletes one file, and at this moment client must see this changes on his web page

it is how chat !

Nope - don't get ya, sorry. Either you don't understand PHP and the way dynamic pages work, or i'm just getting tired (very likely).

He basically wants a list that will update itself in real time upon changes made to the content of an ftp server 🙂

I don't take any responsibility for what this may do to your server speeds... but this would do the trick.

Put this inside the <head> tags of your page and it will automatically reload every 2 seconds.

Unfortunately the only way to retrieve the data you are looking for in realtime would be to have the page constantly reloading.

(unless you wrote some fancy java applet...)
