HELP! *Returning Wrong Value* This is gonna drive me nuts LOL

Okay this is driving me nuts LOL..... No matter what I try this isn't returning right here is what i'm trying to do:

Okay say u_price = 29.99
and c_price = 19.99

When putting it through this:

$total=$u_price-$c_price;

It is returning -10 as the answer instead of 10 like it should be... any idea what's wrong??? Thanks for any help!

I don't know if its me, but the code below i use works just fine.

<?php

$u_price=29.99;
$c_price=19.99;
$total=$u_price - $c_price;

echo "U: $u_price <br>\n";
echo "C: $c_price <br></br>\n\n";

echo "Total: $total";

?>
