I need a program for PHP

Where can I download a FREE php program, that looks like Frontpage 2000?

I allready have DzSoft PHP editor but it's way too difficult for me!

Can someone help me?

Quick tip - DONT USE FRONTPAGE.

One of the worst applications out there. And if you tell your friends that you using it they'll just laugh at you 🙂

I would say go for Dreamweaver (if you have the money to spend), or if you are totally skint, just stick to notepad (or pico under unix) 🙂

But can you see what you are doing in dreamweaver like you are making a html site in Frontpage?

Ok - think of frontpage as your little plastic bicycle you would have when you are a 2 year old kid... with all the big safe bits, and close to the ground so you can't fall off, your mums watcjhing you to make sure you dont hurt yourself, and is helping you steer round corners when you actually wanted to go the other way to get away from her etc etc.... thats frontpage.

Dreamweaver is like the off road mountain bike of desktop web development. You can edit code, use a graphical interface for modifying html, its a dangerous rough and ready ride.

Go take a look at Macromedias website and check it out. I think they have a 30day trial version you can download.

I'm now downloading Dreamweaver MX so I'm growing up you see!!

By the way can you help me with a forum and a login so I haven't got to download it???

If you want a forum, you'll need a database.

I recomend MySQL. www.mysql.com

Once you have that and some field setup up for usernames and passwords then you can start on a login

NOTE: HTML is completely different from PHP/ASP/CFM...etc...

Visually seeing what you are building is not that easy. DreamweaverMX does the best but it's still far from WYSIWYG HTML Editor.

which file to download you mean?

Are you working off of your personal computer. If so I assume you aleady have some kinda server setup.

Are you on windows or unix?

This will depend what file you download from mysql. If windows download the Microsoft Installer files under win32.

if linux download the tar.gz files and follow the instructions.

if windows download and just run the file, it will to the rest.

Then...you will need to get a book😃

No, seriously, you will need to do a google search on how to connect to mysql or search here on phpbuilder. There are tons of examples.

If you really haven't done anything with php before, you are kinda jumping in the deep water. I would suggest learning something about strings or finding a php tutorial. And then come back here and go to the articles place, and I believe there is a article on how to setup up "password protection" or login.
