not show if empty

Ok I fetch data from a database. Now I would like to make if a field was left empty that nothing is shown there, how can I achieve that?

let's see... if you get data from the database, and it's empty... then you display it on the screen, it's still empty... so what gets displayed... nothing! problem solved!

:-) yeah sorry, didn't write it well.
depending if a line was left blank in an input field a whole section should not be displayed.
something like if $name = "" (show nothing)

you should learn to listen to your own advice. how about we turn that statement around...
if ($name != "")
{
// show something!
}

All you need to do is figure out how to get what you want in place of $name.
