strange timestamp formatting

Hi all. When I try to populate a timestamp field using the now() function the timestamp is being returned as follows:

2002-10-04 14:35:19.922355-07

how can I alter the now() function such that it's only the date and time as far as the seconds? I'm looking through the user's guide but I can't find anything to do with date/time masks.

why do that?

You can set the field type in the mysql database to TIMESTAMP(14)

This will automatically update that field with the unix time down to the second whenever that record is updated.
