Where are the error messages???

If I have some sort of error in my php code, I don't get any error messages on my browser saying what error it is, and where it is.

Is it an installation problem??

What is it???? Does anyone knows??

Please help, it's so hard to debug my scripts, specially for a newbie like me!!! 🙁

Add this line to the top of your php scripts to get info on errors.

error_reporting (E_ALL);

I tried that but it didn't work.

But then I thought of checking php's ini file, and set the following all to ON and it worked:

error_reporting = E_ALL
display_errors = On
display_startup_errors = On
log_errors = On
track_errors = On
html_errors = On

This shouldn't give any problems if I'm on localhost, right? I heard it's not recommended on real servers.

You do not need to turn log_errors on at home, unless you want a keep a record. That file could grow pretty fast during developemet!

The only reason display_errors should be turned off on a real server is because hostile visitors can use the error reporting to help them in their attempts to expose your site structure and look for vulnerabilities. It should be turned ON at home.
