anywho, i can't read it so I have no idea what it is, but there is a site called oscommerce.com that has a completely open source ecommerce application. You could start there if you don't want to write it all yourself. From the questions you are asking, I am guessing that you could use some pre-written source to get ideas from..

Why don't you use something like www.xoops.org or www.phpnuke.org

Xoops is my favorite and will do exactly what you are looking for.

I have done two sites utilizing xoops. Great product.
