As you can see from the subject, I'm very new to PHP. I have some very basic web knowledge. I manage my daughter's elementary school website. It is very basic and done in Front Page. The site needs to be updated and I figured I'd take on a challenge.
I want to be able to have the main page display a lot of pertinent information such as what's being served for lunch that day, current news for that day etc. The way the web site is now is that it is just a text file for the menu and news. However, users have to go click down levels to get to it.
So, I figured I would make the page dynamic and pull the information from a database. I figured this would be simple (probably is to most of you all). I created a few MS Access databases and put in my information. I started to create .asp pages and couldn't get the results to show up. I contacted Earthlink (our web host) and was informed that they are Unix based and don't support .asp pages and that I would have to use PHP.
Now, my asp knowledge was almost nothing. My PHP knowlege is even less. I need help. I was looking through the templates hoping to find something that I could use there? Any ideas?
I do all of my website creation in FP. I don't know HTML very much. Can I do this in FP and use PHP pages. Is this possible? Am I a lost cause without instruction? Any help you can provide would be appreciated.
I'm not looking to become a PHP expert overnight, just need to get this done soon.
Thanks in advance,
DG
