something missing...

hi there.... I have php communicating with my server okay (on my Win 98) and I have phpMyadmin and mysql working alright as far as I can tell as php works... but now I'm trying for flash/php and mysql working together but when I make a connection string I don't know what to say because I haven't set a username or password anywhere (not even on phpMyadmin) and I have no idea where or how to do that.....? Is it set on Apache or on MySQl somewhere?

I hope someone can help me.... I have set up Apache/Php/MySQL on Win 98 and whenever I've looked at any documentation is hasn't looked relevant to Win 98.

The MySQL documentation has many examples of setting and chaning passwords. I think that you are going to have to figure out how to get to MySQL at a prompt. Sorry I have never installed MySQL or the rest on a Windows system, but the steps to setup a user and password will be in MySQL. Since you have not set anything, then you can always (Unsecurly) use

Username: Root
Password:

Then you can of course create new users

GRANT priviliege_type ON tablename TO username IDENTIFIED BY password (see mySQL manual for GRANT syntax)
