Just a general question to people who have experience with various template engine systems.
There are several packages and methods around (like the one described in Wee Lep's article http://www.phpbuilder.com/columns/lep20020402.php3?page=3 or stuff like Smarty: http://smarty.php.net/). Obviously Smarty does more than just the "template" concept, it has some kind of caching too.
A second option is to write my own system in order to be able to produce different skins for the application.
So...
- Does ik make sense to reinvent the wheel (2)?
- Which template engine for PHP is the easiest to use / deploy.
- Or which is most customizable? (integrating skins)
- Which one has the best results (1)?
I would like to hear some opinions about template engines (like SMARTY etc.)
