tikking sound when reloading

i recently finished a php chat. the page with the messages refreshes every two seconds. the problem with this is that, under windows, this goes hand in hand with this enerving tikking sound. is there a way to deactive this, or to replace the sound with an empty .wav? or does anybody have a way around this. i also tried putting the text in a textarea and having it refreshed every 2 seconds but that didn't work out.

IE, correct? I thought so. :p IE does that. As far as I know, you can't disable it. IE seems to do it when redirects occur seemingly as a warning to let you know that your page is being redirected or dynamically reloaded. (i.e., through javascripts, etc.)

It's not a warning at all. Its a sound that is set in the control panel. To change it, go to the control panel and click on sounds (I think thats what its called) and look listen to all the sounds that are listed under explorer. Find the one that is the clicking noise and change the settings so that no sound is played.

(Oh, and its not just on IE, it will also occur on windows explorer when you double click on a file)

Then your clients will have to disable the browsing sounds set in the control panel.

Yeah, I know what you mean eagle. I'd also like to know how to make it stop, but I don't think there's a solution besides the manual configuration by your users 🙁

Unfortunately, the sound is controlled by windows. Unless you have remote access to your users' computers, then there is no way of switching this off.
