Text format, \n isn't working?

Hi there,

Just wondering how to do this, I'm sure it will be a simple answer but anyway, I have no idea at the moment.

When a user loses their password, they can fill out a HTML form and it will email them their password and user id. Now when it does this, It is all on one line...

I want it to appear like this:

Dear $name,

Below are your login details needed to access my website. We advise you to keep these details in a secure place.

If you wish to change your password to something you may find easier to remember then please go here:

http://www.myurl.net/login.php#password

I've tried putting \n between the words but it only puts it down one line...I need it to put it down two lines so there is a gap there.

Use two '\n' instead of one.

You can do something like this:

$msg = "Dear " . $name . ",\n\n";

$msg . = "Below are your login details needed to access my website. We advise you to keep these details in a secure place.\n\n";

$msg .= "If you wish to change your password to something you may find easier to remember then please go here:\n\n";

$msg .= "http://www.myurl.net/login.php#password\n\n";

$msg .= "Regards,\n\n";

$msg .= "Me\n\n";

$msg .= "http://www.myurl.net/ ";

Try putting two \n's

Dear $name,\n\nBelow are your login details needed to access my website. We advise you to keep these details in a secure place.

don't expect \n to work in the htmlfile unless you have put <pre> as html first...

the browser reduces \n's in html mode if more than one (look at the source you'll see that there are many newlines )

if you dont use <pre> which can be less good looking than html formatting, simply use "<br>" at the end of lines... or "<br>\n"..

and it adds a new line. here is part of a mail code thing that i have... i used the " " thing to separate 3 inputed data things: return mail address, topic and comment

$body = $HTTP_POST_VARS['email']."
".$HTTP_POST_VARS['admin']."
".$HTTP_POST_VARS['message'];

btw this actually does work, i've test it.

Hello ,

use

nl2br()

function to convert \n new line to html <br> tag also use <pre> tag also ,
that will work fine , try it .
