database table unique on two fields

i want to set up the records in a table to be unique on two fields (id and languageflag), such as

two records

id=1 and language=english or id=1 and language=french is fine

but if there are two records both with

id=1 and language=english will not be accepted.

how can i do that?

assuming that id is your first record and language is your second this should work:

$query = "select * from your_table order by id, language";
$result = mysql_query($query);
while($row = mysql_fetch_row($result))
{
if(($row[0] == $id) && ($row[1] == $language))
{
$id = $row[0];
$language = $row[1];
}
else
{
echo $row[0]."<br>";
echo $row[1];
$id = $row[0];
$language = $row[1];
