Not quite sure on this...

Here's the situation...

I have one page, where a person can type in a product id number and that form passes the variable to the detail page.

My problem is this, my variable that is being passed, regardless of whether or not someone enters a product id number that actually IS IN the database or NOT, is displayed. If the item IS in the database, of course, the product shows without problems. HOWEVER, on the SAME note, if the person enters a product id that is NOT in the database, I get a blank detail page.

I am using Dreamweaver MX and MySQL connection. You can try by going to this link and entering in one of these two product id's. One is good, the other a bad one, so you can see what I mean. productid - 29155 (bad) product id - 29156 (good)

I have also tried an if...else statement on the details page, but to no success. I was wondering if any of you kindly would assist me in getting this completed. This is the only hang-up I have on the completion of this site!

If you need code posted on the pages, please let me know and I'll do whatever I can to get this thing up and running.

I'm still pretty new to this, but the coding is definitely understandable. I am very sloppy when it comes to hand coding, but can, at least for the most part, understand what it is doing. I just don't really know how to create the ELSE statement in this so that it will work correctly. I seem to get an error on that line everytime I try to create one.

Just wanted to say thanks....

I found another way to do it. I used the redirection header command.

header('Location: id2.php');

and included the error message on that page and some extra instructions.
