mail command

I dont know if you can help at all, I have been trying to figure this out for a while. I have a php script that sends an automatic email to someone after they request a ticket at harttheatre.org, and I have the php script compile the message, email address, subject, and the "from" information. Everything shows up fine in the final email, except the "from". It says that it is from Nobody (optimal.optimalweb.com) but php should allow me to hide that. I set the $from variable to "[e-mail]" but it never shows as the actual sender. Any ideas?

mail ($recipient, $from, $subject, $message);

(I have also tried moving the variable around in the string, it doesn't change it)

Your $from var must be set to:

$from="From: [e-mail]";
// change the e-mail addy to the one you want...

You must also have the parameters passed to the function in the right order.
