events/date/location?# of tables?

I need to set up a simple events calendar that can display the current events for the week to look something like this..

however, i would like to also be able to query the events for the current day.. and other helpful queries...

how many tables do i need.. and how should they be structured?

ie. mabey a table for the place/location which includes the address?

another for the event (or band in this case) including contact info?

and one more table for the dates??????

Dealing with dates is never a simple thing, I think.

Luckily, the problem you are trying to solve already has solutions, and you won't have to write much original code... most likely.

Search for a calendar. I'm sure you'll find what you need. Both places have lots of code for to download. Much of it is ready to go "out of the box".
