What's your typical project like ? (size, team size, time etc...)

Currently I am working on a large company Intranet. Its to run in the company head office (Unix based) and several hundred remote servers (NT based) - the remote sites don't have a constant connection so it get polled down from time to time. Also each remote site has custom content too. Its writen in PHP with a MySQL database. I have spent around 5 months on it to date, and expect another 3 months untill the framework is complete.

What type of work do you guys do ?

Mostly small web projects currently.
1-2 months with myself doing the programming and 1 guy doing all of the design.

A lot of building interfaces to manage content and a few very specialized scripts.

Nothing great yet, buy I have quotes out for some huge stuff where I will have to take on at least 1 more programmer.

Cross your fingers for me.

The team is me and one other senior developer, and one junior developer and one gopher. My Boss is the idea guy and the interface to sales / marketing / engineering.

We do everything on:
Linux
Apache
PHP
Postgresql
OpenLDAP
RealServer (the new one, helix server)

On a pair of boxes.

Storage requirements run into the hundreds of gigabytes, and mostly the data sits on the NAS machines in the background.

Our Postgresql database is only about 1 Gig of data when backed up, and runs on local store for speed and reliability.

right now we're trying to get Squid going so we can present many machines (mainframe, legacy boxes etc...) on the web without actually having to expose them.

I mostly develop small/ medium websites and have to grab information from ancient buissnessystems.
Unfortunately most of the websites are on Windows servers, but I work on Linux/ Apache as soon as a get the chance.
