Mssql Server Error

Hello
I have a query that perfectly works under SQL QUERY ANALYSER.
This is a query which returns the first 20 000 results among 300 000 results, using a SELECT TOP 2000.
It works perfectly.

And when I use php, i have always this message:
Warning: mssql_num_rows(): supplied argument is not a valid MS SQL-result resource in c:\program files\easyphp\www\act\act_stat\act_appels_veille.php on line 180

It tells me that it is not valid, but the query itself has no error....

I don't know why....

try looking at the database error, it will give you more info.

in mysql it's just error()

you can do:

echo error();

It may well be the spelling in your query or something table name or something.
You may not have properly connected to the database.

That warning usually means that something has failed, not necessarily that the query itself was bad, but that something failed for some reason or another.

It may be worth a look at the mssql manual if you have one handy. I do not use mssql but with MySql the way to do would be

select fielda,fieldb from atable order by fielda LIMIT 2000

It may just be that different syntax is needed. SQL has many dialects.
