How to foce a download dialog

Hi This is really not php, but I need to know how to force a download to occur on a file I just created "on the fly" in PHP.

Also, any tips on working with the header information so that a php file can be recognized as a text file, or other MIME type?

I trigger my downloads with

<a href='http://www.pcpropertymanager.com/v2/downloads/pcpmocx.exe'>Click Me</a>

and that does the trick

so in php you'd need

echo "<a href='http://www.pcpropertymanager.com/v2/downloads/$filename'>Click Me</a>";

if its like an mp3 file or something that the browser tries to stream, here's a good article...
