setcookie("name",$vars,time()+3600) ==> last for one hour

how should I do if I want the cookie to exist for ever?

Errr - try setting the cookie to some really long time in the future.... i.e. is your script still gonna be running in 2027? I very much doubt it! 🙂

To all intents and purposes this is then forever. Every time someone visits the page, just increase the cookie lifetime again.

If someone is only gonna visit your page once in 25 years... maybe it aint worth even remembering them! 😉

Errr - I think that that might actually cause a buffer overflow somewhere along the line, and you are more likely to end up getting a cookie which expires as soon as it is set.

Try something like

setcookie("name",$vars, 1798761600);

which should set it to expire at 2027-01-01 00:00:00.
